The Most Venerable Phramonkolthepmuni (Sod Candasaro)
the rediscover of Dhammakaya Meditation
The Most Venerable Phramongkolthepmuni was famously known as Luang Pu Sodh, one of the most venerated Buddhist monks in the history of Thailand who discovered the way to attain true inner peace. Luang Pu Sodh had an unwavering mission to spread this universal peace to all humankind.
Luang Pu Sodh was born on Oct 10, 1884 to a relatively well-off family of rice merchants in Suphan Buri, a province in Thailand. His father ran a rice-trading business, shipping rice from Suphan buri to sell to rice mills in Bangkok.
At the age of 22, he took ordination and was given the monastic name of ‘Candasaro Bhikkhu’, a Pali name which means “the one with a bright radiance like the moon”
After the 12th year in his ordination, on a full moon day of the 10th month 1916, he attained true inner peace through meditation practice. This discovery showed the way for all humans to achieve true peace, and stop all conflicts from the very roots permanently.
For more than 40 years after his discovery he spent all of his time teaching students both in Thailand and abroad to people regardless of nationality, race and gender so that they could find inner peace as he did. He taught a countless number of people to attain true inner peace and more than a million people found true inner peace using this meditation method.
